See the little outline of gold on the flowers?
So pretty and rich!

Look how
the silk turns a cool blue/purple when it's tilted way
on its side! I LUV this silk! |
Treasure
Trove
That's
what I think when I look at the collection of fabrics that
make up this one-of-a-kind purse. The body of the bag is
made with a fantastic color of dupioni silk- sort of an
antique gold. What makes it so hot is that it has a crossweave
of brilliant blue that gives a deep sheen in the sunlight.
I love how this silk compliments the flat, geometric parts
of the bag. The front is made with a rectangle of vintage
kimono silk. It has a pretty design of flowers slightly
tinted with gold. The repeating rectangle is red dupioni
silk, and the strip of lead gray is also silk. On the back
(and a little on the front, down in the corner), I did
some top stitching to bring out the shimmer of the silk.
I also added a couple of squares of gray and red silk to
tie all the colors and shapes together. The straps are
made with the gold silk, but at the top, I added red silk
and top stitched them with gold thread. I like little design
elements that keep you interested for awhile! The lining
is red satin, the stiff bottom has metal purse feet, and
the top is snapped together with a silk and satin tab.
